Bighorns Crack Red Claws

PORTLAND, MAINE- The Reno Bighorns won their second straight road game Sunday, defeating the Maine Red Claws 105-102 at the Portland Expo Building. Andre Emmett had a huge game to lead the Bighorns with 31 points, eight rebounds and six assists. The NBA D-League's leading scorer Blake Ahearn posted 26 points while Bobby Simmons had 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Bighorns.

Ahearn continued his historic streak Sunday, going 3-for-3 from the free-throw line and extending his D-League record to 106 consecutive free-throws made. On January 21, Ahearn surpassed the NBA record of 97 consecutive free-throws made and is now chasing the professional record of 138 consecutive free-throws set by the legendary John Wooden in 1936 while playing for the Indianapolis Kautzkys.

The Bighorns offense was once again running smoothly, with the team dishing out 26 total assists and shooting 47.1 percent from the field. The Bighorns only turned the ball over 13 times while forcing the Red Claws into 17 turnovers.

The Bighorns continue their road trip with a game against the Texas Legends on Wednesday. The team returns to Reno to take on the Bakersfield Jam on February 4 at the Reno Events Center.
