
Bighorns Announce New Coaching Staff

RENO, NEV., November 14, 2012 - The Reno Bighorns are pleased to announce Tyrone Ellis and Ross McMains as Assistant Coaches and Scott Schroeder as Video Coordinator, pending league approval, the team announced today.
Tyrone "Ty" Ellis joins the Reno Bighorns coaching staff after serving as an assistant coach last season with the Tulsa 66ers. In addition, Ty was an assistant coach of the Phoenix Suns' NBA Summer League team in both 2009 and 2010. Ellis started his career as a standout college career at Southern Nazarene University, Ty played professionally for 11 years, 10 of which were which were played in the top leagues in Europe.
Ross McMains brings an energetic wealth of international coaching experience to the Reno Bighorns. Having worked in New Zealand, China, Latvia, France, Italy and the US, he is particularly proud of his player development work with the three time Australian league champions, the New Zealand Breakers. In 2012-13 he served as special assistant with the Sacramento Kings, specializing in player development.
Scott Schroeder joins Reno after serving on Coach Abelson's staff last season as Director of Basketball Operations with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The Bismarck, N.D., native majored in Sports Management at Bemidji State University in Minnesota before stints with Dakota Wizards, Minot Skyrockets and various consulting roles while contributing as a basketball writer to various national websites.
