The next time Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller walks into Connors & Ferris Field at The Blue Cross Arena, he will do so as a world champion. "Big Baby" captured the WBA sanctioned NABA (North American Boxing Association) Heavyweight title on Jan. 22nd at Casino del Sol in Tucson, Ariz.

Miller won his first professional title after scoring a seventh-round TKO of Donovan Dennis. His win came just six days after visiting the Rochester Knighthawks. Rubbing elbows with the team that has won three of the last four Champion's Cups was certainly a thrill, but also brought the 27-year-old fighter some good fortune on fight night.

"After much hard work, first in Brooklyn and finishing in Rochester, I am excited about living up to my promise by knocking out Donovan Dennis for my first title," said Miller. "Maybe my meeting with the Knighthawks brought me some good luck."

"Big Baby" was introduced to professional lacrosse by Knighthawks Owner and General Manager Curt Styres and his staff on Jan. 16th. It was an evening that included bench access during warmups and a pregame introduction to the team in the locker room.

His appearance at the Knighthawks game was his last stop before flying out to Tucson. On Friday, before a packed house and in front of a national TV audience, Miller opened his fight with a punishing first round, sending Dennis to the canvass twice. The fight would extend into the seventh round until "Big Baby" unleashed four devastating punches, which stopped the bout.

With the victory, he ran his record to 16-0-1 with 14 by knockout. "Big Baby" will now focus on his first title defense, which is scheduled for Friday, April 22nd at Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino. "Big Baby" predicted his win over Dennis when he addressed the Knighthawks before they dropped the Toronto Rock 12-5.

One player who is interested in attending the fight is Ian Llord. The gritty, hard-nosed defenseman was already looking forward to the bout when "Big Baby" previewed the possible match in Niagara Falls, NY.

"He came in the room and was super down to earth," said Llord. "He was cracking jokes and lightened up the room before a big game for us. It's amazing that he won. If we get a chance to go, it will be pretty exciting to see a guy we just met."

Don't be surprised if "Big Baby" makes another stop at The Blue Cross Arena to see the Knighthawks play prior to his next fight.

"We are definitely back on the path to bringing another heavyweight world championship to Rochester," said co-manager Steve Nelson. "When we train in Rochester for our first NABA title defense at Seneca Niagara on April 22nd, we plan on visiting Curt Styres and the Knighthawks to cheer them on to victory at The Blue Cross Arena."
