Ottawa Fury FC News Release

OTTAWA, ON - In one of their most dominant performances of the season, Ottawa Fury FC ran their impressive unbeaten streak to 12 games with a 4-1 road win in Indianapolis. Sinisa Ubiparipovic, Andrew Wiedeman and Mauro Eustaquio all netted their first goals of the season, with Wiedeman adding a second for good measure in the win. The club's fifth win in a row has extended Ottawa's lead atop the Fall Season standings to five points and given them a two point edge over the New York Cosmos in the Combined standings.

"We approached this game very well and although we didn't start the game well, we were able to control the tempo," said head coach Marc Dos Santos. "Our reaction to Indy's goal was fantastic. We kept composure and answered well. We totally deserved the three points."

Sinisa Ubiparipovic opened the scoring with his 9th minute strike on a great setup from Tom Heinemann. Ubiparipovic, who set up the match-winner last Sunday in Edmonton, proved dangerous all night against the Eleven. Oliver, Wiedeman and Ubiparipovic all produced additional chances for Fury FC in the opening half, but Fury FC was unable to build their lead before halftime. Ottawa went into the dressing room owning 59% possession over the home side who were limited to just one true scoring opportunity off the boot of Dane Richards.

It was a wild start to the second half and four goals were scored within a 10 minute span. Andrew Wiedeman finally broke through with a well deserved goal after pushing the ball out wide to Ryan Richter, Wiedeman took the return feed and slid the ball past Kristian Nicht to put Fury FC ahead by two.

Six minutes later and just minutes after subbing into the match, forward Duke Lacroix cut the deficit in half by capitalizing on a turnover in the midfield. Before the fans in Indianapolis could sit back down after celebrating the Lacroix goal, midfielder Mauro Eustaquio netted his first-ever goal as a member of Fury FC completing a wonderful give-and-go with Tom Heinemann who set up a pair of Ottawa goals on the night.

Two minutes after Eustaquio restored Ottawa's two-goal lead, Andrew Wiedeman was at it again - this time all by himself. Wiedeman won a challenge for the ball with defender Erick Norales who was the last man back for Indy springing Wiedeman on a breakaway and slotted a shot into the bottom right hand corner giving Ottawa a 4-1 advantage.

Ottawa limited Indy's chances as the game wore on securing their sixth win of the NASL Fall Season and growing the goal difference to +10 through seven games with the 4-1 victory.

Fury return home for another three game home stand to close out the month of August facing Minnesota (August 15), New York (August 26) and Tampa Bay (August 29). Tickets to these and all Fall Season matches are available at OttawaFuryFC.com.
