Bes, Traylen Sweep CHL Weekly Honors

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Monday that forward Jeff Bes, and goaltender Dustin Traylen have been voted CHL/Oakley Player of the Week, and Goaltender of the Week by the league for the week of October 22nd-28th. This is the first time in team history that Laredo has swept the CHL weekly awards. It's the fourth CHL player of the week honor for Bes, and the first goaltender of the week honor for Traylen. James Hiebert was voted CHL player of the week for the season's opening week.

Bes played in four games last week for the Bucks, scoring four goals, with five assists, for nine points. All four of his goals came in the Bucks 9-3 rout of Amarillo on Saturday. In addition, Bes had two power-play goals, one power-play assist, and was a plus-eight for the week, in helping lead the Bucks to their best start in team history. Bes lead's the CHL in scoring with 14 points.

Traylen went 2-0 with two shutouts of Corpus Christi last week. On Friday night he made 27 saves in the Bucks 7-0 win, then on Sunday he stopped all 18 Rayz shots he faced, earning his second straight shutout. Traylen is only the second Bucks goalie ever to have back-to-back shutouts, joining David Guerrera, who shutout Rio Grande Valley on December 31st, 2004, before blanking the Rayz the next day. For the season Traylen is 4-0, with a 1.48 goals against average, and a .941 save percentage.

Bes, Hiebert, and Traylen are in the running for October's CHL player, and goaltender of the month awards. Those honors will be announced this Friday.

The Bucks are off to their best start in team history at 6-0, with four of the wins coming on the road. Laredo will look to extend their winning streak Thursday when they host division rival Rio Grande Valley at 7pm at the LEC.
