LAREDO OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION CARRIES TEAM TO 6-0 START

The Laredo Bucks are off to their best start in franchise history winning their first six games and taking care of business in fairly easy fashion outscoring the opposition 37-9 through the first half dozen games. The quick start has the Bucks seven points clear of the competition in the Southeast Division. Last week, the Bucks went 4-0 with the defense pitching in to join the offensive domination by recording three shutouts. Dustin Traylen made 45 saves in two games versus the Corpus Christi Rayz and Kevin Beech earned the 'W' in the Bucks 6-0 win at Amarillo on Tuesday.

A pair of Bucks players were honored this week as center Jeff Bes was named the Oakley CHL Player of the Week and goaltender Dustin Traylen was named the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week. Bes finished with four goals and five assists in four games and Traylen recorded the two shutouts.

Laredo is off until Saturday when they hit the road to play division rival Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. On Sunday the Bucks face-off against the Austin Ice Bats

Tulsa Ready For Some Home Cooking

The Tulsa Oilers will have played four road games on the season before they open at home on Friday night versus the Oklahoma City Blazers. The Oilers have thus far played in three home openers but have yet to experience their own. The final road game for the Oilers before facing off against the Blazers is on Tuesday night versus the Mississippi RiverKings. Paul Kelly has been solid for Tulsa in the early going scoring a goal in each of the Oilers three games thus far. The lone CHL team other than Tulsa not to have their home opener yet is Youngstown who does not play at home until November 23rd.

CHL Coaches Poll Returns

The CHL Top 10 Coaches Poll will return on November 1st with the first edition of who the men on the bench think are the top teams in the early going in the CHL. There are currently three undefeated teams with the Laredo Bucks (6-0-0), the Youngstown SteelHounds (4-0-0) and the Rocky Mountain Rage (4-0-0) remaining unbeaten through the first two weeks of the season.

Between The Pipes

The Youngstown SteelHounds are 4-0 on their season-opening 14-game road trip and with their 2-1 victory over Texas on Sunday they are now 9-0 all-time versus the Brahmas...The Austin Ice Bats have been "special" lately scoring eight of their last nine goals on special teams (five PPG's and four SHG's). The Bats lead the league with five shorthanded goals on the season...University of Alabama-Huntsville West; you'd think that was the alternate name of the Amarillo Gorillas who carry five former Chargers on their roster (Chris Martini, Keith Rowe, David Nimmo, Grant Selinger and Shaun Arvai)...The Mudbugs are just 1 for 26 on the power play this season and have lost four straight games since November of 2005...The Arizona Sundogs will be wearing Halloween themed jerseys when they return home on Wednesday night to face Amarillo. Last season the Sundogs raised nearly $125,000 for charity through four jersey auctions...Colorado is 7 for 21 on the power play this season...The Corpus Christi Rayz have played three straight games of scoreless first periods, themselves and the opposition...Odessa hits the road this week after starting the season with five straight home games (3-2-0). Nathan Ward has 11 points in five games for Odessa, last season he had 30 points all season long...Oklahoma City has been fast starters this season outscoring the opposition 7-1 in the opening frame but it has been the reverse in the third period where they have been outscored 7-1.
