ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today that former Roanoke hockey player Daniel Berthiaume has officially joined the team as the assistant coach.
"I love the Roanoke Valley and all of the people here," said Berthiaume. "I am honored to have the opportunity to assist Coach Wiley and to be a part of the Vipers organization."
Berthiaume enjoyed a lengthy career as a professional goaltender, including stints in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota North Stars, and Ottawa Senators. "Bert", as he is known to many fans, also minded the net for five years in Roanoke with the former Express of the ECHL. He spent last season as a goaltender in Port Huron with the Beacons before the team was relocated to the Roanoke Valley.
