
Bernard Kamungo Called into National Team Duty for Tanzania

FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas forward Bernard Kamungo has been called up by head coach Adel Amrouche to the Tanzanian National Team camp for the June FIFA International Window from June 12-20.
Kamungo, 21, earns his first international call up to represent the Taifa Stars. Kamungo has registered seven appearances in the 2023 season and scored his first MLS goal with a game-winner against Real Salt Lake on April 15. Kamungo signed for FC Dallas on August 30, 2022, and made debut on the road against San Jose Earthquakes on September 17 by coming on in the 70th minute.
Kamungo is MLS NEXT Pro affiliate North Texas SC's all-time leading goal scorer with 22 goals in 52 appearances total over three seasons. He signed his first professional deal after attending the club's open tryouts in 2021. Kamungo was born in Nyarugusu Refugee Camp in Kigoma, Tanzania before moving to Abilene, Texas with his family in 2016 via the International Rescue Committee. He became a U.S. citizen on May 24, 2022.
TANZANIA SCHEDULE
The Tanzanian National Team will face Niger on Sunday, June 18 at 8AM CT in the penultimate group stage match of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
