Amarillo Venom News Release
AMARILLO, TEXAS - The Amarillo Dusters announce today the assignment from the arena football 2 league office of wide receiver Steve Bergeski to the 2008 roster.
"Since I've been back, I've seen many changes on and off the field," Bergeski said. "Coach MacKeown is everything he said he was."
Bergeski joins the Dusters after working out with many teams in the Arena Football League.
"I am very excited about the addition of Bergeski to the team," said head coach, Chris MacKeown. "It's going to be good to have him back in Amarillo."
Bergeski made a name for himself in Amarillo and in the af2 in 2007 as the leading scorer for the Dusters. He also had the most receiving yards, finishing the season with 1478 yards for 33 touchdowns. He scored one rushing touchdown, bringing the touchdown total for the season to 34.
"There is no doubt it, Bergeski being back here will help out tremendously on the field," MacKeown said. "His stats speak for themselves."
Bergeski said he is glad to be getting out and playing again. He will be on the field this Saturday against the Coyotes. He said he is looking forward to the Amarillo fans.
"Arena football is great because fans are so close and you can hear everything," Bergeski said. "When it's packed, it is definitely fun to be out there."
Catch Bergeski and the rest of the Dusters tomorrow as they take on the Central Valley Coyotes for the home opener. Tickets are on sale now. Call the Dusters Box Office at (806) 350-7277, go to www.panhandletickets.com, or visit any Panhandle Tickets Outlet.
