Bend Elks News Release
We are writing with some exciting news about the Bend Elks that we wanted to share with you. Coming off a successful 2014 season where the Elks made the playoffs and set a record for single game attendance, Jim and Mary Ann Richards have announced they have entered into a preliminary agreement to sell the club.
The Richard's founded the Bend Elks 15 years ago and have built the organization into an important part of our Central Oregon community. They have found a new ownership group with the same commitment to providing affordable, family-friendly recreational and entertainment opportunities and to keep Vince Genna Stadium the heartbeat of baseball in our community. Let's Play Ball LLC is set to acquire the Bend Elks as well as the Fieldhouse store and training facilities. While there are still a few pending items before the transaction can be finalized, both parties are hopeful that this will happen soon.
In preparation for the transition, Let's Play Ball, LLC has hired Casey Powell as the team's General Manager. Casey was raised here in Bend and has six years of experience with the Bend Elks as both an assistant and head coach. Among his qualifications Casey, is very well connected with the Northwest Collegiate Baseball circle, which should provide a smooth transition into next season. Additionally, Kelsie Marick has been hired as the Marketing and Sales Director for Let's Play Ball, LLC. Kelsie graduated from Gonzaga University with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Sport Management.
For Jim and Mary Richards, retirement is in the works. They will be celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary later this month and have plans to spend time with their grandkids and travel. Jim will stay onboard in an advisory role as the team prepares for its upcoming 16th season.
We will continue to keep you informed on the progress of the transition. In the meantime, rest assured that much is happening here at the Elks. Our off-season is in full swing with Fall Ball, Travel Ball, and various training camps. Preparation is also underway to make next season one of our bets. Your support of the Bend Elks has been and will continue to be greatly appreciated and an integral part of our success. Without your support and the support of the Bend community, the Bend Elks Baseball Club could not provide the family-friendly experience that we do today.
