Bemidji drops one to Wichita Falls 58-27

Wichita Falls, Texas (Kay Yeager Coliseum) - The Wichita Falls Nighthawks won their first game of the season tonight as they defeated the Bemidji Axemen 58-27. The Axemen fall to 2-3 overall after winning two straight games, their next game will be at home this Friday as they take on the Tri-Cities Fever.

The Nighthawks were in complete control on both sides of the ball the whole game by putting up 302 total offense yards, 187 passing and 115 rushing, and only allowing 117 yards to the Axemen offense. The Wichita Falls defense forced four turnovers and five sacks. Bemidji helped the Nighthawk defense by committing 10 penalties for 105 yards including a personal foul at the Wichita Falls one yard line that helped close out the game.

The Nighthawks were led by quarterback Marcus Jackson who was 18-28 for 182 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Jackson also rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns. The leading rusher for Wichita Falls was Jordan Roberts who rushed for 53 yards on 11 carries and scored two touchdowns. The leading receiver for the Nighthawks was Jefferson Hayes who brought in five passes for 62 yards and one touchdown. Terrance Lloyd led the defense with four sacks and one forced fumble.

Bemidji was led in passing by EJ White who was 10-26 for 89 yards and two passing touchdowns but threw three interceptions. White also led the team with 37 rushing yards on eight carries and scored one rushing touchdowns. Sheldon Galloway led Bemidji in receiving by bringing in six passes for 55 yards and two touchdowns. Reigning IFL Offensive Player of the Week, Mulku Kalokoh, had nine yards rushing on four attempts but had one of the few Bemidji highlights when he returned a kickoff for a 52-yard touchdown. Bemidji's offense struggled to move the ball which resulted in 117 yards of total offense and being 0-8 on third downs.
