The Bells offense exploded for 8 runs on Monday night, beating the Wenatchee AppleSox 8-2. The Bells struck the first blow tonight, scoring two runs in the first inning. Andru Cardenas shot the first pitch back up the middle for a single and the Bells had their first base runner of the game on the first pitch. A batter later Chase Strumpf turned on the first pitch he saw and sent it over the wall in left for a 2 run dinger to give the Bells the lead at 2-0.

The Bells tacked on another run in the 3rd. A walk to Jake Vieth, a single from David Banuelos, and another walk to Austin Shenton loaded the bases for the Bells. Landon Riker then took a RBI walk to make the score 3-0.

The Bells tacked on 3 more runs in the 4th. A lead-off walk to Bells newcomer Dean Lawson got things started for the Bells and a stolen base got him to second, and a sac bunt from Andru Cardenas moved him to third. Gunnar Schubert then walked to put runners on the corners. Schubert then stole second base while Lawson stole home on a controversial call that resulted in the AppleSox manager getting ejected. That made the score 4-0. Chase Strumpf then walked and a passed ball allowed the Bells runners to move to second and third. Jake Vieth then lined a 2 RBI single to right to extend the lead to 6-0.

The lead was extended more in the 5th inning. A double and a single from Justin Polzin and Dean Lawson respectively, put runners on the corners for the Bells. Andru Cardenas then ripped a ball to left field that went off of the left fielder's glove for an error, and allowed Polzin to score. A batter later Chase Strumpf hit a sac fly to right to score Lawson and extend the lead to 8-0.

The AppleSox were finally able to get on the board in the 6th. A walk to Shane Martinez started things off for Wenatchee, and a ground rule double from Evan Douglas a batter later gave them runners on the corners. Matt Fraizer then stepped up and lined a sac fly to center to make the score 8-1 Bells. The AppleSox tacked on another run in the 8th on an inside the park homerun from Evan Douglas.

Jon Olsen started for the Bells on the mound tonight and earned the victory. He pitched 5.1 innings while only allowing one earned run on 2 hits and striking out 4. Brian Way and David Stealy combined to close out the rest of the game on the hill for the Bells, and with Stealy only giving up one run.

The Bells take the field again tomorrow Tuesday July 26th for their first game of a three game series in Longview against the Cowlitz Black Bears at 6:35. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:05 on mixler.com with Tom Prizeman.
