
Bees win to split series with Beloit

Beloit, WI (August 31, 2009) - The Burlington defeated the Beloit Snappers 3-1 Monday night at Pohlman Field. Jason Morales hit a two-run triple in the sixth while Manauris Baez pitched six scoreless innings to lead the Bees to victory.
Neither team scored a run during the first six innings. In the top of the seventh inning, the Bees got on the scoreboard scoring two runs. Jason Taylor led the inning off with a bunt single and was replaced on the bases by pinch-runner Fernando Garcia. Shawn Griffin then singled to shallow right field, which moved Garcia up to second. Juan Graterol put down a sacrifice, which moved both runners up a base. Morales then tripled to score both Garcia and Griffin, which gave the Bees a 2-0 lead.
Beloit got within one run putting their first run on the board in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Bees got their two-run lead back scoring a run in the top of the ninth inning. Garcia walked to lead off the inning and moved to second on a passed ball. Garcia then came around to score from second when an error was committed on a botched pickoff play.
Baez got the start for the Bees and got the win to move to 8-5 this season. In six innings, Baez allowed just two hits with three strikeouts and two walks. The eight wins is the most of any Bees pitcher this season. Cole White pitched two innings allowing one unearned run on two hits with two strikeouts and one walk for his third hold of the season. Blaine Hardy pitched one no-hit inning with two strikeouts and no walks for his eighth save of the season.
The Bees outhit Beloit 5-4. No Bee had more than one hit. Morales had two RBI. Garcia scored two runs.
