Bees Make Donation to Baseball Chapel

Burlington, IA - During the course of the 2004 baseball season, the coaching staff collected fines from the players for various infractions ranging from being late to missing a sign, or any other infraction caught by a teammate that gets brought up in Kangaroo Court. Rather than spending the approximately $100 on a party or something else at the end of the year, this year's club decided to donate the money to Baseball Chapel.

Baseball Chapel is an international ministry recognized by Major and Minor League Baseball. Chapel programs are established for all 210 teams in the major and minor leagues and many of the independent leagues. Baseball Chapel is a non-denominational Christian ministry committed to the spiritual development of people throughout pro baseball and is responsible for the appointment and oversight of all of the volunteer chapel leaders. Approximately 3,000 players, coaches, managers, trainers, office staff, umpires, and members of the media attend Baseball Chapel held before games every Sunday morning at ballparks all around the country.

Pastor Frank Beaty of the New Hope Community Church in Burlington is the Chapel leader for the Bees. In addition to conducting a short service for each team every Sunday the Bees are home, Frank also leads Bible study sessions during the week for any members of the organization that are interested in attending. "I was thrilled to learn the team decided to make this generous donation to Baseball Chapel," Frank said. "It will enable the organization to continue to provide Bibles and other spiritual reading materials to the players."
