Tri-City Diesel News Release
The Tri-City Diesel came out on the wrong end of one of the most lop-sided contests this year, losing to the Omaha Beef 81-14 in Omaha yesterday.
The Diesel had a chance to pull with in one touchdown right before halftime but were unable convert as the Beef scored again in the last 45 seconds to go up 35-14 at the half. The Diesel came out in the second half and drove down to the Omaha six-yard line and were unable to punch it in, they were unable to score for the rest of the game.
Diesel quarterback Roger Linn was 9 of 24 passing for 126 yards and two touchdowns, Greg Lathan had six catches for 101 yards and both touchdowns while Sherman Jones carried the ball 23 times for 55 yards.
Brian Smith and Charles Verdone led the Diesel defense in tackles with seven a piece. Verdone and Justin Comstock also each had one interception in the game.
With five games left in the season, the Diesel go in to a three game home stand starting this Saturday, May 24th against the Bismark Roughriders. Information and tickets for home games may be picked up at the Tri-City Arena box office or by calling (308) 338-8011.
