Becky Hammon Signs Contract Extension

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio Silver Stars guard Becky Hammon has signed a multi-year contract extension, head coach and general manager Dan Hughes announced today. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to spend the rest of my career in San Antonio," Hammon said. "I've always loved the city since the moment I arrived in Texas. I'm looking forward to continuing my relationships with my teammates, Coach Hughes and the Silver Stars fan base."

One of the Top 15 Players in WNBA history and a seven-time WNBA All-Star selection (2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011), Hammon was signed by the New York Liberty as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado State University. After eight seasons with the Liberty, Hammon was traded to the San Antonio Silver Stars in exchange for 2007 second overall draft pick Jessica Davenport and a 2008 first round selection.

During her 13 seasons, Hammon has made her mark on the WNBA career record books, ranking second all-time in 3-point field goals (699) and free throw percentage (89.5), seventh in assists (1,385) and 7th in points (5,075). She holds the league record for the best free throw percentage in five different seasons and for consecutive games played without fouling out (357). Hammon is also the WNBA's career playoff games played leader with 53. She was named to the All-WNBA first team in 2007 and earned second team honors in 2005 and 2008.

Currently in her fifth season with San Antonio, Hammon has ascended to the top of franchise career record book in 3-point field goals (358), free throw percentage (93.1), assists (714), and points per game (17.7). She also ranks among the top 10 in almost every category, including games played (6th - 153), games started (5th - 152), minutes played (5th - 5,063), field goals made (4th - 833), 3-point field goal percentage (5th - 37.7), free throws made (5th - 692), total rebounds (10th - 394), steals (4th - 191) and points (4th - 2,641).
