Minnesota Thunder News Release

Minneapolis - The Minnesota Thunder today announced that international soccer stars David Beckham, Landon Donovan, Cobi Jones and the Los Angeles Galaxy will battle for the Copa Minnesota on October 10, 2007 at 8:05 p.m. at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Tickets for this event will go on sale today, May 22 at 4 p.m. at www.ticketmaster.com

The Minnesota Thunder is excited to present Copa Minnesota, a one-of-a-kind international soccer match to be hosted in Minneapolis. Copa Minnesota is expected to set a new, single-game record in Minnesota for attendance at a soccer match. The Metrodome, in Minneapolis, can hold up to 64,000 people for a soccer match.

Copa Minnesota is Beckham's only scheduled US visit to a non-MLS city in 2007.

Copa Minnesota will be an annual event hosted by the Thunder that will bring in top soccer teams from across North America to battle for the Copa Minnesota trophy.

"Copa Minnesota will be an amazing international soccer event that will boost local and regional interest in the sport," said Manny Lagos, director of soccer operations for the Minnesota Thunder. "Two great teams are coming together with a lot of star power. This is a not-to-be-missed soccer event for fans and families, and of course, we are very excited to bring the biggest soccer star in the world, David Beckham, to the Twin Cities."

In January, the Galaxy altered the soccer landscape in North America when they announced that world-renowned icon David Beckham would be joining the club after his contact with Real Madrid expires on June 30, 2007. Beckham, 32, is celebrated throughout the world for his unparalleled abilities on the pitch - evidenced during his tenure with Real Madrid, Manchester United, and the English national team - and for his overall contributions to the sport.

"We are pleased to be able to bring the Galaxy to Minnesota and give fans of that state and the entire Midwest a first class friendly," said LA Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas.

The LA Galaxy are led by head coach Frank Yallop, who most recently coached the Canadian National Team after winning two MLS Cup Championships with the San Jose Earthquakes (MLS). In addition to Beckham, the Galaxy's roster includes a number of U.S. national team members including two of the USA's most capped players: Cobi Jones (164 games) and Landon Donovan (88 games).

On October 10, the 2007 LA Galaxy will be introduced to Minnesota fans for the first time at the H.H.H. Metrodome in Minneapolis.

Tickets will be on sale today starting at 4:00 p.m. Central Standard Time at all Ticketmaster outlets. Ticket prices range from $40-$125 with 150 field seats available for $175. For non-Thunder or Lightning season ticket holders, fans must purchase two Thunder general admission tickets at $10 each for every Copa Minnesota ticket purchased. These Thunder tickets are valid for youth or adult admission at any regular season home game in 2007.
