NFL, NBA, NHL stats AFL Collectible Player of the Week

May 2, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

Damian Harrell, OS, Colorado Crush

Last week, the electrifying Harrell tied the AFL single-season record for receiving touchdowns (46). This week, in a 75-54 thrashing of Orlando, he shattered it.

Harrell finished Sunday evening's game with another stunning statistical line: 15 receptions for 172 yards and five touchdowns. In addition to raising his single-season touchdown mark to 51, Harrell also took home AFL Collectible Player of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks.

With two games left in the 2006 regular season, Harrell needs just one more touchdown to set another single-season record, this one for total touchdowns. Seeing as how he's averaging almost four touchdowns per game this season, that should come some time in the first quarter of Colorado's game against San Jose on Saturday.

Harrell, last season's Offensive Player of the Year, is a virtual shoo-in to repeat this year. Through 14 games he's caught 138 passes for 1,730 yards and 51 TDs. For perspective, consider that last season he finished with 122 receptions for 1,486 yards and 41 TDs.
