WHO: The Atlanta Beat, Atlanta's Women's Professional Soccer Team
WHAT: Final regular season training session in preparation for Saturday's showdown versus the Philadelphia Charge. The Beat must win or tie the match on Saturday to qualify for the playoffs for the second straight season. The Charge must win or tie on Saturday to claim the 2002 WUSA regular season championship.
WHEN: Friday, August 9
TIME: Beat practice: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Charge practice: 4:00-4:45 p.m.
WHERE: Herndon Stadium 643 MLK Jr. Dr Atlanta, GA 30314
Scenarios (This Weekend)
Atlanta Beat:
1) A win or tie by Atlanta will result in the Beat clinching a playoff spot.
2) A loss or tie by San Jose will result in the Beat clinching a playoff spot.
San Jose CyberRays:
1) A win by San Jose and a loss by Atlanta will result in the CyberRays clinching a playoff spot.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: The Beat's all-time regular season record versus Philadelphia stands at 1-2-2, with the Charge taking both meetings this season. The Beat and Charge are no strangers to a big game, as these two met in the 2001 WUSA Semifinal, in Atlanta. The Beat won the match 3-2 on a Cindy Parlow golden-goal in overtime, to advance to the 2001 WUSA Championship, Founders Cup I.
