Start Time for Charge's Home Playoff Game Set

VILLANOVA, PA (August 8, 2002) - The Philadelphia Charge announced today that their home playoff game on Saturday, August 17 at Villanova Stadium will start at 1:30 p.m. Tickets for the game can be purchased by calling the Charge at 215-467-GOAL or by calling your local Ticketmaster outlet.
The Charge (11-3-6, 39 pts), who play their final regular season game this Saturday in Atlanta at 4 p.m., do not know who they will be playing in the semifinal round. There are a number of different scenarios that can still play out, but the Charge will either host Mia Hamm and the Washington Freedom, Briana Scurry and the Atlanta Beat or Brandi Chastain and the defending Founders Cup champion San Jose CyberRays.
Philadelphia enters the final weekend of action tied for first place in the WUSA standings with the Carolina Courage. A win on Saturday would clinch the regular season title for the Charge, who hold the tiebreak advantage over the Courage. Therefore, if the two teams finish tied at the end of the regular season, Philadelphia would claim the regular season crown.
The Charge also have a chance to play spoiler this weekend in Atlanta. With a Charge win and a San Jose victory over Boston on Saturday, the Beat, who eliminated the Charge in the semifinal round last year, would not make the postseason and the defending champs would be the fourth, and final team, in the playoffs. That would also mean that the Charge would play San Jose in the semifinal round at Villanova Stadium.
