Bears Hogben Pitcher of the Week

June 27, 2011 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Yakima Bears News Release

The Yakima Bears have received word from Minor League Baseball that right-handed pitcher Kable Hogben has been named the Northwest League Pitcher of the week for the period of June 20th through 26th.

Now in his second season with the Bears, Hogben has been lights out to start 2011. In three appearances last week the Australian tossed five shutout innings and recorded nine strikeouts while allowing only two hits and issuing no walks.

In all, Hogben has made four appearances in the Northwest League this season and has 14 strikeouts in eight scoreless innings with three hits allowed and no walks. Hogben is currently tied for the lowest ERA and for most strikeouts in the NWL.

Last year Hogben had a 0.72 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 37 and a third innings while converting all ten of his save opportunities to finish second in the Northwest League in saves.

The soon-to-be 21 year-old Hogben and the rest of the Bears wrap the current six-game homestand tonight with a 7:05 game against the Tri-City Dust Devils before leaving on a three-game road trip to Spokane.

Season tickets, mini plans and individual game tickets are on sale now at the downtown Bears office at 17 N. 3rd Street, Suite 101 and online at yakimabears.com.
