BayHawks Win 10-9 in 4th Annual Scrimmage vs. Denver

Annapolis, MD - The Chesapeake Bayhawks won 10-9 in an exciting pre-season match up against the Denver Outlaws at Archbishop Spalding High School on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 before a crowd of nearly 1,000 eager fans. The Bayhawks' 2013 first round Supplemental Draft pick, attackman Grant Kaleikau, had a stand out game with a hat trick.
"This was a good opportunity to get a lot of guys in," head coach Dave Cottle stated. "We had a lot of first time players - Tyler Fiorito, Matt Mackrides, Grant Kaleikau - that played exceptionally well and I thought that Nicky Polanco stepped up on the defense and played well for us. This is a game where I think we got better as it went on and one that we will hopefully be able to use to spring board for the opening day."
This was the first time the teams had met since the first time since the 2012 MLL Championship game and the fourth time the two had scrimmaged each other in the pre-season. Chesapeake held the lead for the majority of the game and came out on top in the end from a game-winner by attackman Neal Hicks.
The 2013 home opener is Saturday, May 4th against the New York Lizards at 7:00 PM at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
