
Bayhawks join the fun, take the plunge

The Baltimore Bayhawks continue their ongoing support of the Maryland Special Olympics Saturday, January 29th at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, MD as goalkeeper Rob Scherr takes the plunge for a good cause.
The 9th Annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge promises participants will be "Freezin' for a Reason" as the proceeds support the 10,000 athletes who train and compete in the Maryland Special Olympics year round.
The Mt. Washington Tavern kicked off the pre-plunge festivities Wednesday night with its Pre-Plunge Party. Bayhawks Gary Gait, Mark Millon, and Rob Scherr took their turn behind the bar with other local celebrities to benefit the Maryland Special Olympics. The festivities continued into the morning as Scherr joined the Rouse & Co. Morning Show on 105.7 WQSR to help promote the main event.
Besides Scherr, other participants willing to take the plunge into the cold winter waters of the Chesapeake Bay include Governor Bob Ehrlich, Good Time Oldies' Steve Rouse and the Rouse & Co. Morning Show gang, retired Baltimore Raven Michael McCrary and WBAL's Rob Roblin. Those unwilling to get their fur wet can participate in other activities taking place throughout the day including a costume contest and the chance to win great prizes.

The Baltimore Bayhawks were founded 1999 by Dave Pivec, owner of Pivec Advertising; Chris Hutchins, owner of Bacharach Raisin; Ray Schulmeyer, owner of Schulmeyer Animal Hospital in Baltimore, MD; and Gordon Boone of Ryan Commercial Real Estate.
