BayHawks Fall Short against Herd

Erie, PA - The Erie BayHawks (15-13) NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club, fell to the Wisconsin Herd (8-22) this afternoon 119-115.
Terrence Jones finished with a career-high 41 points on 16-24 (.667) shooting from the floor, including a 5-9 (.556) clip from three-point territory, a team-high tying 10 rebounds, six assists and one block in 33.5 minutes. With Jones' 41-point outing, the BayHawks are the only team in the NBA G League this season to have at least three players score 40-or-more points in three separate games: Jaylen Adams (44, 11/16/18), R.J. Hunter (46, 12/29/18 and 40, 11/23/18) (Elias Sports).
Jaylen Adams notched a double-double, dishing out a career-high 13 assists, to go along with 10 points, six rebounds and one steal in 38.4 minutes. Fellow Atlanta Hawks two-way player, Alex Poythress, also finished with a double-double, tallying a team-high tying 10 rebounds, 21 points, two assists and three steals in 30.5 minutes.
Christian Wood led the charge for the Herd, finishing today's matinee contest with a team-high 40 points on 14-24 (.583) shooting, a game-high 20 rebounds, three assists and one block in 37.6 minutes. Michael Qualls pulled down 18 rebounds, to go along with 11 points, three steals and a game-high three blocks in 35.5 minutes of action. Wisconsin held advantages in rebounds (61-41), points in the paint (66-56) and second chance points (19-5).
The Herd built an early 11-point, 21-10, lead with 5:03 left to play in the first quarter. Erie cut into its deficit, outscoring Wisconsin the rest of the opening 12 minutes, 20-13. Heading into the second quarter of play, the Herd held a 34-30 lead. Jaylen Adams knocked down a three-pointer at the 6:14 mark of the second quarter, giving Erie a 51-49 lead. After 24 minutes of action, the BayHawks notched a six-point, 67-61, advantage.
The third quarter was evenly matched, as both Erie and Wisconsin dropped 28 points. Heading into the fourth quarter, the BayHawks maintained its six-point lead, 95-89. The Herd opened up the fourth quarter on a 21-6 run, taking a 110-101 lead with 5:29 left to play. Jordan Sibert buried a triple at the 3:10 mark of the fourth quarter, regaining the lead for Erie, 113-111. Wisconsin would finish the game on an 8-2 run, walking away with a 119-115 victory.
