Erie, Pennsylvania, Tuesday, March 6 - The Erie BayHawks (19-17) put on a show for area schools as they took apart the Maine Red Claws (15-23) by a final score of 106-81 in front of over 5,000 fans. Donald Sloan returned to Erie and helped his team take a huge first quarter advantage and never looked back.

Erie opened the day's scoring before trading baskets with the Red Claws during the first four minutes. Maine held a one point advantage with eight minutes remaining in the first quarter and it would prove to be their last lead of the game. The BayHawks blew the game open with runs of 11-2 and 9-2 in the first quarter, powered by four Mychel Thompson three-pointers. Thompson finished the first quarter with 14 points. The BayHawks extended their first quarter lead of 17 to 20 by the intermission, holding Maine to 36% shooting in the first half.

Maine never got closer than 20 points in the second half as Erie was able to carry a 25 point advantage into the final frame. In the fourth quarter, the BayHawks held their largest lead of the game, a 31 point advantage with three minutes remaining. When the final buzzer sounded, it was Erie standing strong with a 106-81 victory.

Erie was paced by Thompson's 22 points (6-8 from three). Other double figure point scorers for Erie were Jerome Jordan (19 points, 12 rebounds), D.J. Kennedy (16), Donald Sloan (15 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds), Kyle Goldcamp (13 points, 15 rebounds) and Kyle Spain (12). Maine was led by Morris Almond (17), Kenny Hayes (13) and DeShawn Sims (11).

The BayHawks continues their season long homestand on Thursday night as they face the Iowa Energy at 7:00 pm. Maine will travel to Fort Wayne to take on the Mad Ants on Thursday night.
