BayBears Back Strong Pitching with 6-2 Win

The Mobile BayBears snapped a four game losing streak, defeating the Jacksonville Suns 6-2 Thursday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Mobile scored six runs on nine hits, while BayBears pitchers combined to limit the Suns to just two runs on six hits. Leading by just one run in the eighth inning, Mobile added three runs with a two-run double from Ryan Strieby, who scored on a ground-rule-double from Ed Easley. The Suns loss snapped a seven game win streak.

Mobile took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning when Brent Clevlen broke the scoreless tie with a three-run homer after Alfredo Marte walked and Matt Davidson singled. The BayBears lead was trimmed to one in the fifth inning when the Suns posted two runs with RBI singles from Jake Smolinski and Zack Cox. Evan Frey prevented the Suns from scoring the tying run in the fifth, throwing out Smolinski at the plate as he tried to score on the hit from Cox.

RHP Mike Bolsinger (pictured right) improved to 4-2, allowing two runs on four hits while walking and striking out six batters in five full innings. RHP Eury De La Rosa and RHP Kevin Munson combined to hold the Suns scoreless on just three hits over the final four innings. De La Rosa and Munson each recorded three strikeouts
