New Bedford Bay Sox News Release

Team Canada beat the Bay Sox 2-1 Tuesday night, in a special exhibition game at Paul Walsh field, with dominating pitching and just enough offense.

Bay Sox starting pitcher Graig Weber (Bradley) got off to a shaky start in the first giving up a leadoff walk and a base hit. Weber settled in nicely after that, only allowing Team Canada's Chris Thibideau to score on a Gareth Morgan fielder's choice.

All 18 or younger, J.P. Stevenson, Connor Noble, Ben Onyshko, and Dylan Brooks had their turn pitching for Team Canada and dominated the Bay Sox throughout the game. Combined, the youngster recorded 16 strikeouts, allowed only 4 hits, and one.

Six innings later, team Canada was able to push their second runner across the plate in the 7th. J. D. Osborne got the Canadians started scorching a base hit up the middle. He made his way to third after a walk and a wild pitch. It was Thibideau who capitalized for the Canadian's with a bloop-single to center field for the RBI and final run for Team Canada.

The Bay Sox managed a run in the bottom of the 8th when a run was walked home to make it a 2-1 final.

The Bay Sox have an off day on Wednesday and head to Keene Thursday night.
