New Bedford - The Bay Sox lost in an interdivisional NECBL game against the Keene Swamp Bats by a final score of 2-1 at Paul Walsh Field. Three defensive miscues were the downfall for New Bedford in the loss.

In the top of the third a throwing error by Jake Friar (Sacred Heart) allowed Connor Foreman (URI) to score from third base bringing with him the first run of the ball game.

In the eighth inning, an error by third baseman Rowdy Andrews (Eckerd) allowed Brad Witkowski (Hoftra) to reach safely. He later scored on a RBI double by Ryan Karl (Cornell)

Keene starting pitcher Michael Geannelis (UMass) tossed shutout baseball for 6 innings of work. He went onto striking out four batters while walking just two. The Bay Sox lineup mustered three hits against the right-hander.

Jayson Sullivan (Sacred Heart) led the offense for New Bedford with his three for four night. Sullivan drove in the first Bay Sox run in the eighth inning with a double. T.J Dixon (Samford) was heavily involved at the dish, as he finished his night going two for three. Dixon also stole his team-leading seventh base.

New Bedford starter Charlie Dant threw only four innings for the Bay Sox. In his third appearance of the season, Dant went four complete innings allowing only one hit while fanning four. Although he got the loss, the one run he surrendered came unearned.

Sean Stephenson (Millersville) threw 2 1/3rd innings out of the bullpen for New Bedford. He struck out one while allowing two hits.

Jayson Sullivan (Sacred Heart) is awarded with tonight's First Citizens' Player of the Game. Sullivan, who has been on an offensive tear as of late, going 7 for 14 in his last four games. He had much of the same success against the Keene as he finished his night going three for four, driving home the only New Bedford run. This is Sullivan's second time of the year being nominated as First Citizens' Player of the Game.

New Bedford will travel to Plymouth to take on the first-place Gulls on Friday, June 26th. Howard Brey is expected to make his fourth start for the Bay Sox.
