Bay FC News Release
Orlando, Fla. - Bay FC surrendered a penalty kick in the first half, but were unable to find the equalizer, falling 1-0 on the road to the unbeaten Orlando Pride at INTER&Co Stadium on Saturday night. It marked the first time this season Bay FC have been held scoreless in a match after tallying a goal in their first eight matches.
Goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland helped keep Bay FC within striking distance throughout the evening, recording a career-best nine saves. She surpassed her previous single-game best of six saves - a mark she matched on four other occasions during her NWSL career. Bay FC's best chance to level the match came off a set piece in the 62nd minute when Kayla Sharples' header off a corner kick just missed from close range.
Goal-Scoring Plays
ORL - Adriana (penalty kick), 33rd minute: Barba Banda was fouled near the top of the box on the left side and Orlando was awarded a penalty kick. Goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland dove her right and nearly got a touch to the shot, but Adriana fired a low, hard strike into the bottom left corner of the goal.
Notes:
Tonight's match marked the first time Bay FC have not scored in a match this season. Bay FC had scored in their eight previous matches. Bay FC recorded the third-longest streak for consecutive games with a goal in a team's first season. Only the North Carolina Courage (11 games - 2017) and Sky Blue FC (2013 - 9 games) had longer streaks in their first seasons. Rowland registered a career-best nine saves on the night, surpassing her previous record of six saves - a mark she recorded four times previously during her NWSL career. Kiki Pickett earned her first start with Bay FC in the match. It was Pickett's first NWSL start since Aug. 2023 with the North Carolina Courage. Pickett became the 21st player to earn a start for Bay FC this campaign.
