
Baumgartener and Reid reassigned to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks announced that defenceman Nolan Baumgartner (BAWM-gahrt-nuhr) and forward Brandon Reid has been reassigned to the Manitoba Moose.
During the 2003 NHL Playoffs, Baumgartner, 27, played in the last two games of the conference semifinal series against the Minnesota Wild and registered one shot. In the regular season with Vancouver, he played in eight NHL games and recorded three points (one goal, two assists), a +4 rating and four penalty minutes.
With the Moose this season, Baumgartner registered 39 points (eight goals, 31 assists) with a team-high +15 rating and 82 penalty minutes in 59 AHL games. The Calgary, AB native finished as the Moose second leading scorer among defencemen, tied for fifth in team scoring and selected as the Moose Best Defenceman.
Reid, 22, played in nine of the 14 playoff games for the Canucks this season. He recorded his first NHL playoff point with an assist (Apr. 18 vs. St. Louis) and had eight shots during his first playoff season in the NHL. In seven NHL contests with the Canucks this regular season, the speedy centreman notched two goals and three assists for five points and a +4 rating. The Kirkland, PQ native made his NHL debut on March 1 against the Montreal Canadiens. He recorded his first-ever NHL point with an assist in the third period during the 1-1 tie. In his second stint with Vancouver, Reid earned first star honours for his three point (two goal, one assist) performance against the Nashville Predators on March 20.
Reid was Manitoba's leading scorer during the 2002-03 regular season with 54 points (18 goals, 36 assists) and 18 penalty minutes. The 5'9" forward set season pro career-highs for points, assists, penalty minutes and power play goals (7). He registered 11 multi-point games this season with the Moose. Reid recorded a season team-high five game assist streak (Nov. 01-09/02) and established a career-high seven game point streak (Mar. 5-16/03).
Baumgartner was originally assigned to Manitoba at the start of the 2002-03 season on October 9/02 and then reassigned on November 1 and February 23/03.
Reid was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks with their fifth choice, 208th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He was originally assigned to Manitoba prior to the start of the 2002-03 season on September 25/02 and then reassigned on March 2 and April 3/03.
Baumgartner and Reid will be flying to Hamilton and joining the team for the game seven conference semifinal match against the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday.
