Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - In cooperation with LifeShare Blood Centers, the Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings will be hosting a blood drive at this Saturday's game against the Arkansas Twisters. LifeShare Blood Center will be set up in the concourse of the CenturyTel Center accepting donations beginning at 6:00PM.
"The blood supply is very critical right now," said Colleen Murphy, Donor Resources Coordinator. "We need all the help we can get. By donating blood just one time, you can save three lives."
The BattleWings have set a goal of 50 pints to be donated during the game. If that goal is reached, BattleWings' General Manager Butch Bellah is going to have his head shaved for Bald is Beautiful night on June 7th.
"We're asking all our fans to get involved," Bellah said. "I don't have much hair to sacrifice on Bald is Beautiful night, but it's the thought that counts. Hopefully, we'll be able to make a difference for a lot of people."
The LifeShare Blood Center serves approximately 2.5 million people in North, Central, and Southwest Louisiana, Southeast Texas and South Arkansas.
"There are a lot of people who think they cannot donate because of misinformation and past regulations," Murphy added. "I encourage everyone to check and see if they're eligible."
