Battle Wings coach excited for start of training camp this Monday

March 15, 2002 - Arena Football League (AFL) - Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release

FOR BOSSIER CITY BATTLE WINGS Head Coach Pat Tilley the end of last year's football season is a distant, distant memory as he prepares his club for the start of training camp this Monday at Independence Stadium in Shreveport.

Coach Tilley has been working hard this off-season recruiting new players for the 2002 arenafootball2 season while at the same time grooming many of the players returning from last year's team. It will all begin to take shape this week during workouts from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday at Independence Stadium.

"I am really looking forward to this season," said Coach Tilley. "I think we put a good foundation together last season and know what we have to do to get better this time around. We have some new blood coming in that is going to make an impact and some players from last year who are only going to get better."

The Battle Wings open the 2002 arenafootball2 season in Quad City against the two-time defending champion Steamwheelers on April 6. The Battle Wings season-opener at the CenturyTel Center is the following Saturday night against the Tulsa Talons.

All training camp workouts are open to the public. For more information please call the Battle Wings office at 752-2847.
