Battle to win: Machine vs. Riptide
June 16, 2006 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Chicago Machine News Release
Tomorrow, the Chicago Machine faces off against the Los Angeles Riptide for the first time this season. The game will begin at 1:00pm at The Home Depot Center. The Chicago Machine vs. Los Angeles Riptide game is the MLL Game of the Week on ESPN2 and will be broadcasted on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 12:55pm (EST).
Both the Machine and the Riptide will be coming into the game fighting for their first win of the season. This will be the fourth game of the season for the Los Angeles Riptide after losing to Philadelphia, Rochester, and Boston - all teams in the Eastern Conference. The Riptide's top scorer, Brian Nee, has a total of eight goals for the season - scoring half of them in their last game against the Boston Cannons.
The Chicago Machine comes into the fifth game of their season after a close game that brought them into overtime against the undefeated Philadelphia Barrage. The Machine dominated in the first half of the game to finish off the half 9-3, but the fourth quarter proved to be disastrous as the Barrage came back to tie the game at 12-12 and bring the Chicago team into overtime and win the game off of Roy Colsey's victory goal.
"Last week when we played against Philly, we showed that we could be a very good team," said Machine Head Coach Kevin Finneran. "Our goal is to play four solid quarters this weekend in LA."
The Machine has activated rookies Sean Morris and Michael Culver in the past two games, and will add one more rookie to this weekend's roster. Adam Goodwin, from the University of Denver, will wear his Machine jersey for the first time and play with Chicago as they go up against Los Angeles.
