Charleston Battery News Release
Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery welcomes the Atlanta Silverbacks to Blackbaud Stadium Friday night for a USL First Division match; gates open at 6:30 PM, kick off is set for 7:30 PM. This is the third of four games between the two sides in 2006, after tieing the first game at Blackbaud on May 27 the Battery fell 3-2 to Atlanta in a game played in Atlanta on June 3.
The final game of the series between Atlanta and Charleston is next Friday night, June 30 in Atlanta; kick off is set for 7:30 PM (CNN 1450 AM).
The Charleston Battery enters the game on the back of a 1-0 win versus the Vancouver Whitecaps in a match played last Sunday evening. Forward Gavin Glinton scored the lone goal; his team-leading fifth of the season.
Friday night's game is being broadcast live on FOX Soccer Channel. This is the only regular season game that the Battery is scheduled to appear on the FOX USL broadcast.

Catalano named to USL First Division Team of the Week
Charleston Battery defender Anthony Catalano has been named to the USL First Division Team of the Week following his strong defensive performance in the Battery's 1-0 win versus the Vancouver Whitecaps last weekend. Catalano is in his rookie season with the Battery; this is the first time the Elon University product has been named to the Team of the Week.
Battery to host Sonoma County Sol in USOC Second Round
The Charleston Battery has been drawn to play the Sonoma County Sol (USASA) in the second round of the 2006 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup; the game will be played on Wednesday, June 28 at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island with kick off set for 7:30 PM (gates 6:30 PM). If the Charleston Battery advances past Sonoma County it will host the USL First Division Portland Timbers in a third round fixture at Blackbaud Stadium on Wednesday, July 12; kick off 7:30 PM.
