
Battery takes on Eagles in pre-season exhibition

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery welcomes the USL Division 2 Charlotte Eagles to Blackbaud Stadium Saturday for a pre-season exhibition. Gates open at 6:00 PM with kick off set for 7:30 PM. The game is part of the Battery's annual Open House event; there is no charge for admission and also no charge for parking. The Three Lions Club will be open to the general pubic throughout the evening.
The Charleston Battery and Charlotte Eagles rivalry extends back to 1993 the year both teams were formed. In 1996 the Charleston Battery defeated the Charlotte Eagles to win the D3 Pro-League Championship. As recently as 2002 the Eagles competed in the same division as the Battery. For the 2005 season Charlotte will play in the USL second division while the Battery is part of the USL First Division.
The Charleston Battery pre-season began with three MLS Carolina Challenge Cup matches at the end of March. The Battery lost 1-0 to Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew, tied 2-2 with DC United then lost the final game of the tournament 1-0 to the San Jose Earthquakes.
Charleston responded with a 5-0 victory over UNCC (March 30), a 6-0 win versus the USL Division 2 Wilmington Hammerheads (April 2) and a 7-1 win versus UNCW (April 6).
Open House
Saturday night is the Charleston Battery's Open House / Season Ticket pick-up party with no charge for admission or parking. Season Ticket holders are encouraged to pick up their Season Ticket packages during the evening. For Season Ticket holders who cannot make the game, packages will be mailed on Monday, April 11.
Before the match all attendees will have the opportunity to try some of the Battery's existing and new half-time promotions; the T-Bonz Kick for Cash target will be set-up on the stadium field as will the all new SAAB Thump it in the Trunk promotion. In addition the Three Lions Club will be open to the general public throughout the evening. The Three Lions Club is an English-style pub open to members only on Charleston Battery game-days. A full bar menu will be available Saturday night.
Season Tickets
2005 season ticket packages are on sale now with prices starting at only $120. Memberships to the Three Lions Club and Battery Club which both include a catered buffet by Executive Chef Pete Thomason are still available. In addition, this season the Charleston Battery is offering a new Flex Pack season ticket package.
