Charleston Battery News Release

Charleston, SC. The Charleston Battery takes on the Orlando City Lions Friday night at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL (7:30 PM - 1340 AM). The Battery (11-7-0) has a chance to climb back in to second position in the USL PRO standings after falling into third place following last Thursday nights 2-1 loss to Orlando.

Friday's game will be broadcast live on the official Charleston Battery radio show presented by Daniel Island Wine & Spirits on 1340 AM with the pre-game build up starting at 7:15 PM.

Orlando 's win over the Battery last week increased their lead at the top of the USL PRO standings to 11 points over the Rochester Rhinos and 13 points over the Battery.

Orlando would clinch the regular season title with a win versus the Battery on Friday night. However the Battery will also be looking for maximum points as it works to improve its chances of securing a top two league finish.

The top six teams in the USL PRO will advance to the post-season with the top two finishers advancing directly to the semi-final round.

Friday's match is the third of the three game season series; Orlando has scored a pair of 2-1 victories over the Battery so far this year, winning on June 9 at the Citrus Bowl and July 19 at Blackbaud Stadium.

Charleston has yet to win a game versus Orlando at the Citrus Bowl. This will be the fifth time the teams have played at Orlando's home field with the City Lions winning all four previous meetings.

Orlando is the defending USL PRO champions and eliminated the Battery from the 2011 post-season with an OT quarterfinal victory last August. The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes but Orlando scored twice in OT to advance to the next round.
