Indiana Blast News Release
INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana Blast (3-21-3 12pts) lost to the Charleston Battery (14-7-6 49 pts) Sunday night at Kuntz Stadium. It was the 21st loss of the season for the Blast, but few were more disappointing than this. The Blast outplayed the Battery for 109 minutes and 57 seconds, but it wasn't enough as late-substitution Seamus Donnelly's golden goal just before stoppage time in the final overtime nullified an otherwise outstanding game by the Blast.
The Blast started the scoring in the 8th minute. Justin Lucas sent a cross into the box to James Prosser, whose header was blocked by Charleston keeper Dusty Hudock. The ball rebounded back to Prosser, and James was able to slip his second shot past Hudock.
Charleston got on the board in the 28th minute. Justin McMillian's clearance was stopped by Bryan Hoy in the penalty area. Hoy took a shot that deflected off of Prosser and past Blast keeper Armando Femia to equalize the match.
In the final minute of the second overtime, Seamus Donnelly cutoff a clearance from a corner kick and launched a shot past the outstretched hands of Femia to win the game.
The Blast's next and final home game will be Sunday, August 31st against the Milwaukee Wave United at 5:35 pm at Kuntz Stadium. It's Blast Fan Appreciation Night with tons of free giveaways, discounts on your favorite merchandise and your chance to bid on your favorite player's jersey during our silent auction. Gates open at 4:30 pm.
