Charleston Battery News Release
CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Battery announced Wednesday the continuation of their partnership with leading apparel manufacturer Gildan®. The partnership, which kicked off during the 2021 season, will extend through 2023 with Gildan as an official sponsor of the Charleston Battery and playing a key role in the club's youth clinics and local outreach initiatives as a Youth Clinic Community Partner.
"We're thrilled to partner with Gildan again this season and look forward to doing great work together in the Charleston community through 2023," said Battery President of Business Operations, Scott Krenitski. "Gildan plays an active role in respecting and building stronger communities in the areas where they operate, with one of their focuses being active living, so working together is a perfect fit to support the Charleston community through the expansion of our youth clinics and outreach initiatives."
As a Youth Clinic Community Partner of the Battery, Gildan will invest a total of $150,000 in the program and supply apparel, including custom t-shirts and soccer socks for all attendees at youth clinics hosted or supported by the Battery this summer across the tri-county area. Through this partnership, Gildan will also become the organization's preferred t-shirt supplier.
"We are excited to partner with the Battery once more to support young soccer enthusiasts in and around Charleston," said Gildan's Vice President of Merchandising and Design, Christopher Preston. "At Gildan, we believe that a healthy community is a thriving one, which is why we encourage health, wellness, and an active lifestyle through some of our community work. We look forward to seeing Battery delegates wear our products at the club's youth clinic and local outreach initiatives."
"It's exciting to have our players and staff back out engaging with the Charleston community, especially after the last two years prevented them from doing so," said John Wilson, the Battery's Director of Community Engagement. "The players are really looking forward to interacting with fans, particularly our younger fans, through upcoming soccer clinics and other community events this season."
In addition to supporting the Battery's community initiatives, fans can look for Gildan's expanded presence on matchday with enhanced signage inside the stadium at Patriots Point and bringing fans watching from home the "Gildan Keys to the Game" on every ESPN+ broadcast.
