Louisville Bats News Release

In a close battle, a couple bounces proved to be the difference as the Louisville Bats fell 4-3 to the Toledo Mud Hens on Saturday night.

Making the spot start, Bats righty Sam Benschoter was stellar. He needed just 17 pitches to get through the first two innings before recording all three outs via the strikeout in his third and final inning.

Kevin Abel was first out of the Louisville bullpen and made quick work of the Mud Hens in the fourth. The Louisville offense came to life in the bottom of the inning. Edwin Arroyo led off with the game's first hit. Juan Brito then golfed a double into the left field corner, allowing Arroyo to come all the way around with the game's first run. Ivan Johnson followed with an RBI single to right and Will Banfield capped the inning's scoring with an RBI single of his own.

Abel cruised through the fifth but worked into a jam as a pair of walks ended his outing with one out and runners on first and second. He would be taken out of the game in favor of Chase Solesky. But on Solesky's first pitch, Max Anderson connected on a three-run homer, ending the no-hit bid, the shutout bid, and tying the game 3-3.

Two innings later, Toledo caught a break to retake the lead against Anthony Misiewicz. With one out, Jace Jung's grounder deflected off the first base bag and into right field for a double. Josue Briceno then put the Mud Hens back in front with an RBI single.

The Bats went quietly in the eighth. In the ninth, Dariel Friego set the Bats down in order to finish the win for the visitors.
