The Ice Bats struck early in the first on a power play chance. Defenseman Arturs Kupaks missed the net with a big slap shot that kicked off the end boards back into the slot where waiting forward Benoit Genesse slipped it into the net for his seventh of the year at 1:56. The Bucks came back and tied the game quickly when defenseman Paul Elliott ripped a shot from the left point that whistled thru traffic and into the net at 2:36. Later in the frame the Ice Bats struck again on the power play when forward Kris Knoblauch tipped a wrist shot by Kupaks into the net at 7:54. Austin out shot the Bucks 12-5 in the first period.

In the second period the Ice Bats again tallied quickly. Genesse was left all alone in front and forward Chris Richards slipped him a perfect pass that he banged into the net for his second of the night, eighth of the year, and another Austin power play goal. The goal gave the Ice Bats a 3-1 lead. In the second period the Bucks out shot the Ice Bats 19-2, but Austin goalie Matt Barnes stopped every shot he faced.

In the third Barnes continued to sparkle as he turned aside 18 more Bucks shots. FINAL SCORE Austin 3, Laredo 1.
