Barrie Colts vs. Brampton Battalion - Playoff Preview

The seventh seeded Barrie Colts will face the second seeded Brampton Battalion in their best-of-seven first round Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Series. The Colts finished up the regular season with a 28-34-3-3 overall record and 62 points, meanwhile the Battalion finished with a 42-22-1-2 overall record with 88 points, securing the regular season Central Division title. The Colts and Battalion each posted three victories in their six regular season meetings, as the Battalion outscored the Colts 18-16. Each team gained two victories in their respective buildings. Overall, the Colts finished up the regular season 16-16-1-1 at home, and 12-18-2-2 on the road, meanwhile the Battalion finished 23-11-0-0 at home and 19-11-1-3 on the road. The Colts scored 185 goals and allowed 223, placing them 19th and tied for 8th overall for the regular season, meanwhile, the Battalion as a team tallied 259 goals and allowed 187, placing them in fifth and in a tie for fourth respectively in these categories.

SPECIAL TEAMS OUTLOOK - BARRIE & BRAMPTON: Barrie's powerplay finished up the regular season 17th overall in the OHL with an efficiency rate of 16.5% with 64 goals on 388 man-advantage opportunities....On the other side, the penalty-kill finished tied for seventh overall at 82.5% having killed off 315 of the 382 shorthanded situations they have faced.... PAST PLAYOFF HISTORY: This marks the third straight season where the Colts and Battalion meet in the post-season...The Colts defeated the Battalion in five games during the 2006 Eastern Conference Semi-Final Series, and put together a four game series victory in their first round Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Series meeting last season....The Colts and Battalion also faced each other in the 2003 post-season, where the Battalion as a #2 seed beat the Colts as a #7 four games to one in their first round Eastern Conference Quarterfinal
