Philadelphia Barrage News Release

BRIDGEPORT, CONN., June 17, 2002 – The Bridgeport Barrage, Connecticut's only professional lacrosse team and a charter member of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), today announced that they have acquired attackman B.J. Prager (Princeton, 2002) from the MLL Player Pool and have released goalie Pat McGinnis.

Prager, a Garden City, NY native, was a tri-captain for the Princeton Tigers Men's Lacrosse team that made it to the championship of the NCAA Division I Tournament this year. A four-year contributor on the attack, the 5-9, 165-pound scoring specialist was named a USILA Third Team All-American during his senior season, as well as being a First Team All-Ivy League selection three out of four years at Princeton. In 2001, he led the Tigers during the finals of the NCAA Tournament, scoring the last 4 goals, including the game winner, of their 10-9 championship win over Syracuse. Prager is currently ranked third at Princeton in career goals scored with 121.

In order to acquire Prager, Bridgeport has released goalie Pat McGinnis back into the MLL Player Pool. McGinnis, 23, made an appearance in one game for the Barrage last year, logging 9 saves while surrendering 17 goals in a loss vs. Long Island. The Barrage originally drafted him in the third round of the 2001 MLL Collegiate Draft.

Bridgeport will resume play on Friday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m. when they face the Baltimore Bayhawks at Dunning Field at Hawes Plaza in New Canaan, Conn. The Barrage will then travel to Baltimore on Saturday, June 22 to face the Bayhawks at Ravens Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
