Barrage Open 2005 Season This Weekend

Philadelphia, PA (May 25, 2005) – The Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier outdoor lacrosse league, open the 2005 season on Sunday, May 29 at 7 p.m. against the Boston Cannons at Villanova. The Barrage take on the Cannons in a rematch of the 2004 championship game where the Barrage defeated the Cannons to be named the 2004 MLL Champions and be the only professional team in Philadelphia to win a championship.

With returning players Roy Colsey, local product Kyle Sweeney and 2004 Rookie of the Year Ryan Boyle, along with new additions to the roster including Philadelphia legends Kevin Finneran and Brian "Doc" Dougherty, the Barrage look to defend their title and bring home another championship.

Along with adopting new players and colors for this season, the Barrage took on a new coaching staff. Head coach Tony Resch is a former head coach of the Philadelphia Wings and currently coaches lacrosse at La Salle High School. Assistant coach Tom Slate played seven years for the Philadelphia Wings, is the president of Lacrosse Evolution and coaches lacrosse at Downingtown East High School. Offensive coordinator John Nostrant is a former Philadelphia Wings player and presently serves as head lacrosse coach at the Haverford School.
