Barrage Fall To Outlaws 13 to 15

Denver, CO (July 21, 2007) - In the highly anticipated championship game rematch between the Outlaws and the Barrage fell in the favor of the Outlaws. They avenged their 23-12 loss to the Barrage in the 2006 Championship. The Outlaws defeated the reigning MLL champions 13 to 15 in front of 7,481 fans at the INVESCO Field at Mile High. The Bud Light MVP went to Brian Langtry of the Outlaws for his five-point performance (4G, 1A).

Denver opened up the game with the first goal by Drew Westervelt off an assist from Benson Erwin. The Barrage answered back with three unanswered goals by Michael Springer, Matt Striebel and Jed Prossner. Denver's Jeff Sonke broke Philadelphia's scoring streak, followed by two more goals from Denver to go ahead by one. Striebel tied the game for the barrage with 11 seconds left in the first quarter. Face off specialist Jason Motta, who is filling in for the injured Andy Corno, won five out of nine attempts in the first for the Barrage. Each team went goal for goal early on in the second quarter, followed by another three goal run from Denver, giving them a three-goal lead. Philadelphia cut their deficit down to one with a goal from Springer and rookie Ian Dingman around the two-minute mark. The game moved into halftime with the Outlaws leading the Barrage, eight to seven. Motta won five out of eight attempts at the face off "X" for the Barrage.

Philadelphia tied the game up with another goal from Springer, his third goal of the night. Denver answered back to take the lead, followed by a goal from Barrage midfielder, Roy Colsey to tie the game again, Denver went ahead by two, followed by two goals from the Barrage scored by Prossner and Ryan Boyle to tie it up once more for the Barrage. Denver scored to take the lead with a minute to play in the third quarter. They Outlaws stayed hot to open the final quarter of play with a goal from Brian Langtry and two from Matt Brown, to take a four goal lead, the largest lead the entire game. Denver held the Barrage scoreless for the next five minutes until Springer scored a two-pointer, his first of the season, bringing the Barrage within two. But their efforts fell short as the Barrage lost to the Outlaws 13 to 15 in one of the closest games played this season.

The Barrage enter their final stretch of the 2007 season when they return home for a "home" game against the New Jersey Pride on July 26 at Yurcak Field at Rutgers University. Face off is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available by calling the Barrage ticket office at 610.355.8999.
