Barracudas Welcome Back Rochefort
January 25, 2007 - SPHL (SPHL)
Jacksonville Barracudas News Release
The Jacksonville Barracudas have welcomed back an familiar face, as they signed defenseman Billy Rochefort for the remainder of the 2006-2007 season.
Rochefort, who began his SPHL career with the Barracudas in 2004, had played the past two seasons with the Florida Seals. He became a free agent when the Seals folded mid-way through this season, and was not selected in the dispersal draft.
"He is a big, strong defenseman, which is something that we're in need of," said Barracudas' Head Coach Rick Allain. "He's been through a lot of battles, and he's a veteran defensive presence."
So far this season, Rochefort has five assists in 25 games with the Seals. Last season with the Seals, he had nine assists, and was a key member of the Seals' playoff run which ended in the President's Cup Finals.
In 2004-05, he played in 32 games for the Barracudas, picking up a goal and nine assists, before being traded to the Winston-Salem Polar Twins.
