Jacksonville Barracudas News Release

The Jacksonville Barracudas have chosen their captains for the 2006-2007 season. Leading the team with the "C" on his chest will be long-time Barracuda Greg Lecolst. His two alternate captains are newcomers to the team, defensemen Derek McKinlay and Ryan Crowther.

"Greg is a prototypical "lead-by-example" guy, who has the respect of each and every one of his teammates," said Head Coach Rick Allain of his Captain. "He's been committed to this organization for a number of season's now, and is a great presence in the community."

While the two alternate captains are new faces to the Barracudas organization, Allain says that they quickly established themselves as leaders on the team.

"Both Ryan Crowther and Derek McKinlay are very experienced defensemen who gained their teammates respect from day one," said Allain. "They come to play every night and wear their hearts on their sleeves."

LeColst was an Alternate Captain for the Barracudas last season, while Jason Simon captained the team. Simon, though signed for training camp, decided to remain home and not play hockey this season.

The Barracudas face their first test tonight in Knoxville, TN against the defending President's Cup Champions Knoxville Ice Bears, before traveling to Richmond, VA after the game to face off against the Richmond on Saturday night.

The Barracudas' first home game of the 2006-2007 season is on Saturday, November 4th, at 7:05 P.M. For information on Barracudas season tickets or Flex Packs contact the Barracudas office at 904-367-1423, or visit the team's website at www.jaxcudas.com.
