Jacksonville Barracudas News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. â The Jacksonville Barracudas are just one win away from going from league doormat to league champions.
Last season, the Barracudas (18-42-1, 35 points) finished dead last in the ACHL. This season, the Cudas turned it from worst to first (40-18-1, 81 points) and won the Canadian Club/President's Trophy for regular season champion.
In the WHA2 semi-finals, the Barracudas beat the Miami Manatees two games to one in their best of three series while Macon swept past Alabama two games to none. In game one the Cudas edged the Macon Trax 3-2 in overtime when Jamie Miller slapped a shot past Trax goaltender Geoff Faulkner.
Game two of the best of three is Friday night at the Centreplex in Macon. Face-off time is 7:35pm. Macon has not been the kindest of places for the Barracudas this season. Jacksonville holds a 10-4 season advantage over the Trax but has lost the last four games in Macon including the controversial forfeit game back on March 11.
If the Barracudas get by Macon on Friday, they will accomplish something that the Jacksonville Rockets, Barons, Bullets, and Lizard Kings were not able to do. Win a league championship. The Barracudas are just one win away from making Jacksonville sports history.
Game three, if necessary will be Tuesday night, April 20 at the Veteran's Memorial Arena. Face-off time is 7:05pm.
