
Barracudas land big defenseman

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - In need of some defensive help, the Jacksonville Barracudas have added defenseman Steve MacIntyre, assigned to the Barracudas of the WHA2 by the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.
MacIntyre, a 6-6, 250 lb. Brock, Saskatchewan native, played 42 games with the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL this season scoring one goal and three assists for four points and 153 penalty minutes.
"Steve has been loaned to us from the New York Rangers," Head Coach Ron Duguay said. "He's a big, young defenseman that needs quality ice time for an opportunity to develop."
The Barracudas are without Mike Wirll, recalled by Charlotte of the ECHL, and Greg Capson, sidelined indefinitely with a facial injury after a high stick last Saturday against Miami.
The Barracudas have also placed goaltender Brandon Snee on the 7-day IR with a leg injury. He joins goaltender Nate Ziemski on the 14-day IR with a leg injury. To replace Snee, the Cudas have signed goaltender Nick Berti to back-up Randy Hevey.
The Barracudas put their five-game winning streak and league-high 13-game home winning streak on the line this Friday and Saturday against the Lakeland Loggerheads. Face-off times both nights is 7:05pm at the Veteran's Memorial Arena.
