
Barracudas home streak reaches 10 games

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Barracudas home winning streak reached 10 games last night as the Cudas held off the Macon Trax 3-2 in front of 6,012 at the Veteran's Memorial Arena.
With tonight's 19TH win of the season, the Barracudas have surpass the win total from all of last year (18-42, 35 pts.)
Lyle Steenbergen led the Cudas with a pair of goals while Jamie Miller added two assists. Rookie goaltender Randy Hevey was sharp between the pipes with 39 saves. Jacksonville (19-9-2, 39 points) has a three-point lead over second place Orlando, 7-3 losers tonight to Miami.
After a scoreless first period, the Barracudas notched goals by Lyle Steenbergen and Jay McCabe in a span of 1:16 to jump to a 2-0 lead. Late in the second, Macon's Jeff Antonovich scored a power play goal deflecting a shot from Art Mnatsakanov to pull the Trax to within one.
In the third period, Lyle Steenbergen scored the eventual game winner on the rebound after Jamie Miller's breakaway hit the post. Macon cut the lead to one with a goal off the stick of Craig Miller.
Macon became only the third team this season to out-shoot the Barracudas (41-32).
The Barracudas look to make it 11-in-a-row at home on Sunday night when the Orlando Seals come to town. Face-off time a special 6:05pm start.
