Barracudas Devour the Trax

MACON, Ga. - The Jacksonville Barracudas last night started their first stretch of three games in three nights with at 7-4 win over the Macon Trax in front of 1,011 at the Macon Centreplex.

Winger Chris Hackett got the Cudas on the board at 6:14 of the first with his third goal of the season. Macon's Steve Zoryk tied it up then just :31 seconds later, Chris Harper notched his third goal of the season putting the Barracudas back on top. Trax forward Eden Welsh picks up a loose puck and slams it home at 15:10 of the first and both teams to the intermission tied at two.

Defenseman Justin Hellegards scores his first of the year just :33 seconds into the second period with a big blast from the point putting the Barracudas on top for good. Mike Wirll and John McCabe also add goals in second for the Barracudas. Craig Miller pulls Macon within two with a goal late in the second period.

In the third, the Barracudas defense stifles the Trax and Mike Johnson and Klage Kaebel add an empty net goal each to seal the 7-4 win.

The Barracudas (5-2-0, 10 pts.) host the Miami Manatees (5-2-1, 11 pts.) tonight. Face off time is 7:05 at the Veteran's Memorial Arena. The Cudas have lost the only two meetings between these teams being outscored 11-4 including a 6-2 defeat last Friday at the Home Opener. Tonight is Puck Night and the first 1,500 fans receive Barracudas commemorative puck compliments of Benjamin Moore. Also, intermission entertainment with the Zooperstars!

Tomorrow the Barracudas wrap up their three games in three nights in Lakeland with their first ever game against the Loggerheads. Face-off time is 7:05.
